provides specialized evaluation and care of poisoned patients through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. We are part of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. We also provide consultations through the Pittsburgh Poison Center, a nationally recognized regional poison information control center.
The toxicologists within this service exercise a multi-disciplinary approach to the care of poisoned patients. This coordinated specialty care may be lifesaving, particularly in unusual or difficult cases. As the foremost toxicology service available in Western Pennsylvania, our doctors provide uncompromising care and expertise for poisoned adults and children.
The Division of Medical Toxicology is under the direction of Kenneth D. Katz M.D., Chief of the Division of Medical Toxicology and Medical Director Pittsburgh Poison Center. He is supported by Anthony F. Pizon, M.D., Jawaid Akhtar, M.D., Robert Cannon, D.O, and Mike Lynch - Fellow.
